Brooklyn rapper has lost yet another bid for bail in advance of trial on drug-dealing and weapons-possession charges

Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda has lost another bid for bail in Manhattan court. The 21-year-old, whose legal name is Ackquille Pollard, has now been denied bail four times since his arrest in December.
The rapper, who was arrested in December 2014, has previously pleaded not guilty to felony and misdemeanour charges of promoting prison contraband, perjury and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Bronx district attorney’s office. Prosecutors also claim he ran a drugs gang that stretched the length of America’s east coast. If convicted of this, Shmurda could face a 25-year sentence.

Shmurda’s new attorney, Alex Spiro of the law firm Brafman & Associates, objected to the date and requested bail for his client, however, special narcotics prosecutor Nigel Farinha reportedly argued that the case against the rapper has only got stronger.
Shmurda rose to fame in 2014 following the success of his song Hot Nigga, whose video featured the “Shmoney dance”, which went viral.
